Road To 700 – Month 3

I had a lot of expectations from this month and I had planned some quality sessions to utilise the base I had built in the previous 2 months. But all the planning went south in the second week itself.

What Happened ?

I had a road HM in the first week, which went good, as per plan. I took a day off after that and resumed my training. Then the body decided to catch cold, throat pain, and fever on Wednesday. Luckily, by Saturday I felt recovered and decided to do 2 loops of Sinhagad Fort on 20th December to at least gain some elevation. Which backfired and I got hit by a second wave of fever. This time I took complete rest until I felt absolutely fit and fine.

I then resumed my training from the 24th December. Did some easy runs and light strength training. On 27th I did three loops of Torna Fort. I was finally back on track. Till 31st, everything was fine, I started the speed work as well. But that was it. From 1st Jan I started feeling weak again, there was no fever, but I wasn’t feeling fresh. So I decided to take as much time as my body demanded.  After taking 6 days of complete rest, I started easy runs from 7th January. On 10th January, I participated in Matheran Ultra, 30KM Category. The race went very good, which is a big positive. Watch the race video here.

Charts

Below are the charts, which look completely disoriented. The base fitness has gone down. Overall mileage and the load have also reduced.

Next Course of Action

I have realigned my goal for the Jumping Gorilla race, which is on 24th January. Will implement what I have planned and share it in my race report. Not going to do anything stupid though.
I have got some inputs related to diet and training from one of the best persons in the business, Mr Hemant Beniwal. Started implementing them from the previous week itself and tested the fuelling strategy in Matheran 30k.
Need of the hour is to have patience and keep the boring work going. Going to do exactly that.
